Akbank Short Film Festival, the meeting point for movie lovers and the film industry, will be held for the 20th time on March 25 - April 4 to create an effective platform in this field with the acknowledgement of the pioneering role of short films for the art of cinema.
The special guest of the festival for the 20th year will be director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The master director, who recently made the film "About Dry Grasses", which won Merve Dizdar the Best Actress Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, will meet young filmmakers and cinema lovers at the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival. During the meeting, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's first short film "Koza" will be screened, followed by a conversation where he will share his experiences about the film and his cinematic journey.
Nuri Bilge Ceylan said about the event: "I like watching short films, I always have, it is a free field where personalities stand out far from commercial concerns. It is also valuable for me to be able to meet young people on the occasion of Akbank Short Film Festival."
2421 Applicants from 74 Countries
Akbank Short Film Festival, to which a total of 2,421 short films from 74 countries applied in its 20th year, consists of "Festival Shorts", "Shorts from the World", "Young Perspectives", "Short to Long", "Experiences", "Documentary Cinema", "Perspective", "Special Screenings" and "Forum" sections. In addition to many films that have taken part in world festivals, many films will make their Turkish premieres at the festival.
Akbank Short Film Festival will take place on both sides of Istanbul this year. Screenings will be organised at Akbank Sanat building, Moda Sahnesi and online. The online screenings of the festival will be held through the internet address filmonline.akbanksanat.com.
