The duo of Alara Tütüncü on harp and Özgün Bora on upright bass will perform amidst the magical atmosphere of Church of Saint Benoit in collaboration with 212 Photography Istanbul on October 10.
Alara Tütüncü
Alara Tütüncü began her musical career at Mimar Sinan State Conservatory in 2005. During her conservatory years, many valuable harp teachers provided her with a solid educational background. After this classical education, she turned her attention to jazz music, long a passionate interest of hers. She had the opportunity to attend workshops with other jazz harpists abroad and work with them. Although her instrument has a very limited presence in jazz music, she has sought to make the harp a solo instrument in the contemporary jazz scene with inspiration from Alice Coltrane's spiritual world and Dorothy Ashby's excellent technique.
Özgün Bora
Özgün Bora began playing music at an early age with classical guitar and harmony lessons before seeking different styles. His interest in jazz guitar began with Russell Malone and became inspired by musicians like Django Reinhart. After gaining experience across genres by performing with numerous musicians at different venues, he found himself captivated by the deep and intense melodies of upright bass. In his projects, he is inspired by the idiosyncratic style of Joe Pass and steeps himself in the grooves of Ray Brown.
