Unlike past technological developments, digital technologies transform the practical relationships we establish with objects, with others, and with institutions, as well as the mental relationship we establish with ourselves. In this context, we will first consider Günther Anders’ argument that technology has become the subject of history in the era of the third industrial revolution. Next, we will interpret what Bernard Stiegler calls—with reference to Kant’s critique of pure reason—the critique of the technological, contemporary and no-longer-pure reason, and the idea of the crisis of the way of thinking shaped by digital technologies and the new industrial models in the 21st century.
