Eylül Ergül:
From Ankara, Turkey, Eylul Ergul was born into a profound lineage of passionate musicians of all sorts, whose talent and ardent love of music have been passed down for many generations. In 2008, Eylul started her professional classic music education in Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory with the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Diler Argat. Between 2010-12, Eylul was tutored by illustrious Professor Ilhan Baran in an eclectic variety of subjects such as music history, contemporary music, and 20th century music. Baran’s deep influence on Eylul sparked, in the ensuing years, a greater interest in jazz music, which culminated in her wanting to follow the path of jazz. In 2011, she continued her studies of piano with Menekse Akar. In addition, Eylul have participated in various masterclasses and received certificates from many eminent musicians.These names include Alexander Tenaglia, Krassimir Taskov, Marylene Mouquet, Cem Babacan, Başar Can Kıvrak, Gökhan Aybulus, Muhiddin Durruoğlu and Hüseyin Sermet. In 2014, Eylul won a competition called The Young Soloists and performed Bohemian Rhapsody with Eskisehir State Symphony Orchestra as a result of the award bestowed upon her. Furthermore, In 2014, she had the marvelous opportunity to give a solo performance in the Antalya International Piano Festival and study with distinguished pianist Huseyin Sermet. In 2015, Eylul Ergul continued her studies with Sanem Berkalp and graduated from high school. After choosing to continue in the jazz faculty in 2015, Eylul Ergul started her jazz education at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. Now, Eylul is majoring in jazz piano at the Istanbul University and minoring in jazz vocals. In 2020, Ergul recorded a song titled “Onumde hayat, ustumde Waikiki” for LC Waikiki commercials and she also partook in the jazz band called Neset Ruacan and Ozan Musluoglu for an Akbank’s 30th anniversary project “Dun, Bugun, Yarin” In the same year, Eylul formed a music band called Genedos with various multi-talented musicians: Serdar Barcin, Cagla Karaali, Ozan Musluoglu. Eylul Ergul is currently working on her solo single project.
Serdar Barçın:
Serdar Barçın was born in 1977 in Izmir. In 1991, he started the conservatory flute department. In 2000, he graduated from Hacettepe University Ankara Conservatory "Flute" department. During his school years, he started playing alto saxophone with his interest in jazz and popular music. During this period, he took part in jazz projects with Kamil Erdem. After moving to Istanbul, he continued to work as a studio musician and in projects. In October 2007, he took part in the Sertab Erener and Demir Demirkan in the project of 'Painting on the Water'. The Los Angeles album was recorded in Hollywood C.A., musicians playing in the project: Al Di Meola, Alan Pasqua, Demir Demirkan, Dave Weckl, Kai Eckhkardt, Mike Stern, Serdar Barçın, Sertab Erener, Tuluğ Tırpan.
In November 2010, he released the jazz album called 'Barbun' from A.K. music company. He played this album at the International Istanbul Jazz Festival in 2011. He took place of Ibrahim Maalouf's album Diasporas. Barçın is still working in the Trt Jazz orchestra, performing with various projects and groups and continuing his studio work.
Ozan Musluoğlu:
Born in Germany, Ozan Musluoglu started playing bass guitar at the age of sixteen. He graduated from the Music Department at Bilgi University in Istanbul. During his studies he has participated in many workshops with well known bass players like Marc Johnson, Dwayne Burno, David Friesen, Dominique Lemerle and Robert Balzar. For many years he was bassist of the successful band Athena, with whom he recorded albums and toured both nationally and internationally. The band represented Turkey in the 2004 eurovision Song Contest where they placed fourth.
Ozan Musluoğlu enthusiastically released his first album "Coincidence" under the Recbyjazz label in February 2009. On the same year Ozan finished recording his second album "40th Day" consisting of his original compositions. The musicians of this album released under Equinox Music Label-May 2011 are: Jeremy Pelt, voted rising star on the trumpet 5 years in a row by Downbeat magazine; JD Allen on tenor saxophone, Danny Grissett on piano and Darrell Green on drums.
His third album "My Best Friends Are Piyanists" released under Equinox Music 2012, featured the talents of twelve of Turkey's most renowned jazz pianists. His fourth album "My Best Friends Are Vocalists” also released under Sony Music 2015, featured the talents of thirteen of Turkey's most renowned vocalists.
In addition to a very busy gigging schedule, Ozan Musluoglu is the full time bass player for the TRT (Turkish National Television) Jazz Orchestra. He also produced a weekly jazz radio program called "Jazz Hour" on the TRT National Radio channel every week. (2009-2017).
Ferit Odman:
Ferit Odman is an on demand and busy jazz drummer based in Istanbul. He started his music studies in Sweden as an AFS exchange student (1999), got a full scholarship to get his B.A. in Music at Istanbul Bilgi University (2001), attended the School For Improvisation workshops in NYC (2004), and has been granted a Fulbright Scholarship to further build on his studies at William Paterson University (2006).
In 2010, Odman recorded Nommo with trumpeter Brian Lynch, saxophonist Vincent Herring, pianist Burak Bedikyan and bassist Peter Washington. In 2011, he released Autumn In New York, featuring trumpeter Terell Stafford, saxophonist Vincent Herring, pianist Anthony Wonsey and bassist Peter Washington. In 2016, along with trumpeter Terell Stafford,pianist Danny Grissett and bassist Peter Washington, he released the all-analog (AAA) Vinyl Dameronia With Strings, a six-string tribute to Tadd Dameron. American DownBeat magazine gave four stars to Dameronia With Strings and Autumn In New York and three and a half stars to Nommo.
He spent / played two years in NYC and holds a M.M. (Master of Music) degree in Jazz Performance. He became heavily entrenched in the Turkish jazz scene at a young age and recently performs with many jazz musicians, while leading his own quintet and touring around Europe.
