Hakan Başar (Jr.), who was born in 2004, began playing piano when he was 8. After some ephemeral private lesson, he has continued his studies with his father, who is a guitarist. He was 10 when gave his first concert, within 5th Pera Music Festival. He has taken the stage at events like Cercle d'Orient, Caddebostan Cultural Center, Istanbul Hilton, BBVA (Esma Sultan), Akbank Syndicated Loan Signing Ceremony (Raffles Hotel) with projects like "Tribute Michel Petrucciani", "Tribute Oscar Peterson & Keith Jarrett" etc. Başar continues his musical studies at full steam besides his student life. His first recordings were recorded at İTÜ MİAM Studios in the end of 2015. After he has taken part in written and visual media many times, he has been finalist of İstanbul Jazz Festival-Young Jazz, so he deserved giving concert within festival when he was 12.
The new season, that started on 8th February 2017 with "Akbank Sanat Young Talent" concert, has continued with İzmir European Jazz Festival on 17th March 2017, Remembrance Night of Ahmet Ertegün on 29th March 2017. Hakan has played with Nezih Yeşilnil, Alkan Başar and Yunus Muti during these concerts. Within this time period, he has met with Chick Corea in particular and Ron Carter, Russell Malone, Eddie Gomez, Donald Vega. He got a chance to workshop with Chick Corea before Corea's concert in İstanbul.
Recordings of his album that started in September 2017 have been made in Babajim İstanbul Studios & Mastering. İmer Demirer, Halil Çağlar Serin, Engin Recepoğulları, Kağan Yıldız and especially Ferit Odman have taken part in these recordings. He played with his father, F.Hakan Başar, on recording of the Star Eyes (Gene de Paul) song. His recording dated 2nd July 2018, that is Michel Petrucciani's On Top Of Roof, broadcasted on a radio show, Coco Jazz, in Montreal (Canada). It was Hakan's first overseas event.
