Art Display in Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture

Displaying art object in a museum, is a challenging process conceptually and practically. The museum has an unique influence on exhibiting and narrating arts.
This seminar discusses the new collection exhibition of Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, which curated by Burcu Pelvanoğlu and Ayşe H. Köksal, in tandem with history of museum display. It will be covered several topics from the narrative to its building of the exhibition consisted of artworks from 19th century till 1980s. The seminar will be based on subjective experience as well as conceptual and historical aspects.
Ayşe H. Köksal
Ayşe H. Köksal is an art historian (Associate Professor, PhD). She currently works a faculty member in the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Özyegin University in Istanbul, Turkey. After graduating from History Department at Bosphorus University, she completed her MA at Maastricht University, and her PhD thesis at Art History Department, at ITU. She is a member of College Arts Association. Her recent book on “Resim ve Heykel Müzesi: Bir Varoluş Öyküsü” has published by İletişim Publishing, Sanat/Hayat Series. The areas of research interests cover art and museums, organizations of art world, museum-memory and space.
