“İstanbul’dan” which is founded by Ayca Daştan in 2016; consists of experienced musicians who lives in Istanbul and has studied in different fields such as classical western, jazz, folk and rock music. In order to understand the lands on which they live, the group interprets the folk songs of Anatolian culture in their own language.
The band creates its musical expression, in other words, its 'own language' from a perspective of Istanbul, the city where they live. In order to understand the culture of their land, they take the stories of the folk songs as resources to themselves and carry these stories to the present.
Another important element that feeds the band is improvisation. Emotions in stories are the main source of improvisations, and these improvisations create the personal stories of the band members. In this way, the stories from the past feeding them meet with the musicians' own stories.
This performance is shaped by improvisations that transfer the cycle between past, present and future and changing every time; becomes a new experience for the first-time listeners as well as those who love and know folk songs.
The band will launch their album “Yola Çıktık” with this concert.
