Maciej Obara's jazz career began with pianist Dominik Wania and entered on a different path after he was invited to “Take Five: Europe” project which about a hundred jazz musicians from France, Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, and Norway gave concerts at various festivals around Europe. Obara met with Norwegian drummer Gard Nilssen and bassist Ole Morten Vågan at this interesting project, and thus Maciej Obara International Quartet was formed. The tribute album “Komeda” they made for the jazz pianist Krzysztof Komeda is considered their most important recording. This concert project is organized as part of the 2014 culture program that celebrates the 600th year of Poland-Turkey diplomatic relations, with the cooperation of two festivals; Akbank Jazz Festival and Jazztopad Festival.
