Kâmil Özler began his music career taking guitar lessons from Antonio Dumezic. Since the 1970s, he has been part of several orchestras. In 2018, he retired as a conductor of the TRT Light Music and Jazz Orchestra which he had been a part of since its establishment. He put his mark on the arrangement of many albums produced by musicians ranging from Kerem Görsev to Ayten Alpman. He founded the jazz guitar ensemble Kâmil Özler Trio with Kamil Yılmaz and Erdal Oral in 2018. Their song “I Don’t Have A Name” appeared on the album Dün, Bugün, Yarın prepared to celebrate the 30th year of Akbank Jazz Festival. They will join the 33rd annual festival this year with a special performance. Kâmil Özler’s daughter Yasemin Özler will be performing with the trio. She has worked with several musicians including Ceylan Ertem, Ayyuka, Melike Şahin, and Ah! Kosmos. You can watch the special performance at Akbank Sanat on September 26.
