Combining his sense of rhythm, which he inherited from his family roots in Ivory Coast and with academic studies, Manu Katché is one of the rare musicians who has managed to have his mastery accepted by the music world. Along with becoming one of the world's leading drummers, Katché played for cult albums of legendary musicians such as Peter Gabriel, Sting, Tracy Chapman, Loreena McKennitt and Joe Satriani. He also played for many albums of Jan Garbarek, another leading musician in the world of jazz. Katché's unique style, combining African rhythms with classical drumming, leaves a wide space for piano, bass, and brasses to show their skills. Manu Katché, who is to take the stage on the 25th anniversary of the festival with the crew from his last album, will be accompanied by the Norwegian double bassist Ellen Andrea Wang, who deserves special attention.
