On the tenth anniversary of his passing, we will gather at Babylon to commemorate Mehmet Uluğ and his legacy that profoundly influenced Istanbul’s music scene. The Akbank Jazz Festival organizes a Mehmet Uluğ Tribute Night each year. This year, İlhan Erşahin and his guests will be on stage on October 6. In 2005, İlhan Erşahin founded İstanbul Sessions to initiate a “session group” he could play with as a different project from what he had done so far. This band has continued to receive inspiration from diverse historical periods and spaces since the release of their debut album in 2010. To date, İlhan Erşahin has collaborated with several influential musicians like Erik Truffaz and Arto Tunçboyacıyan. Special guests will accompany them on their performance for this year’s Mehmet Uluğ Tribute Night.
