I am Playing, Therefore I Exist!: Aesthetics and Rhetoric in Games
Time: 18:00-19:30
Games are important. Not only because they are a tremendous object of popular culture or because they drive the wheels of the industry, but also, like films, literature, and music, because of their transformative, powerful, and therapeutic functions. When playing a game, we explore the ideas presented within its conditions. The semi-real decisions we make within these worlds have the potential to awaken deep understanding and awareness within us about the reality that surrounds us. In this talk, we aim to examine concepts and current debates related to understanding games and producing meaning through games, using examples and questions.
