A conversation will be held with young and talented actress Öykü Karayel about acting profession, her career plans and industry experiences.
Öykü Karayel
Born in 1990, Öykü Karayel is graduated from Istanbul University State Conservatory Theatre Department in 2011. During her last year at school, she began acting with the Tiyatro Krek and starred at the award-winning “Güzel Şeyler Bizim Tarafta”, written and directed by Berkun Oya. Oyku Karayel’s leading role “Ayşe” brought to the artist the awards. She won the Young Talent Award 2010-2011 by the Turkish Theatre Critics Association and also Efes Special Award in Sadri Alışık Cinema and Theatre Awards. Öykü Karayel’s first television experience as the female protagonist in the tv series was Kuzey Güney. After that, she played in theatre play ‘Katil Joe’ in 2014 and continued her success in the well- known tv series such as Kara Para Aşk, Muhteşem Yüzyıl Kösem, Kalp Atışı and Muhteşem İkili. Her first cinema film was at 2015, she played one of the key roles in Bulantı directed by Zeki Demirkubuz. In 2015 she was the protagonist at the film Toz shot at Afghanistan and written/directed by Gözde Kural. In 2016, she took role at Pelin Esmer’s film İşe Yarar Bir Şey which won many national and international awards. With her role in İşe Yarar Bir Şey, Öykü Karayel has received Best Supporting Actress at Malatya Film Festival, Best Actress at Bosphorus Film Festival, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at Sadri Alışık Awards. In 2017 she played at Onur Ünlü’s film ‘Put Şeylere’. Öykü Karayel was selected as the Young Witch by Uçan Süpürge Women Film Festival in 2018. In 2019, she played and co-produced the theatre play ‘Terk’. Her digital project written and directed by Berkun Oya will be released in 2020 at Netflix.
