The performance of jazz vocalist Sanat Deliorman can be followed on Friday, 5th June, 2020, at 20:00 on Akbank Sanat Instagram page. Sanat Deliorman will do a solo vocal performance using the recordings previously made by pianist Baturay Yarkın and double-bassist Enver Muhamedi.
Sanat Deliorman – vocals
Having started singing jazz in 2003, at the a cappella jazz choir of Boğaziçi University, where she did translation studies, Sanat Deliorman collected degrees in jazz vocal competitions and was invited to the İKSV Jazz Festival in 2010 as a young talent. Deliorman, who is especially known with her strong voice and theatrical interpretation, has been giving concerts in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Marmaris and the Balkans, especially in the Nardis Jazz Club and CRR Concert Hall. She was also accepted as a scholarship student to the New York Jazz Masters Workshop organized in Wojanów, South Poland in the summer of 2017, where she had the opportunity to work with Aaron Goldberg, Judy Niemack, Kendrick Scott, Matt Penman, Greg Osby and Mike Moreno. Deliorman, who has completed projects such as Sanat Deliorman & Her Jazz Bros, From Poland with Love, Speaking Guitars, Jazz Sisters and Ukulele Jazz, has been continuing to record her own Turkish jazz, tango and pop compositions.
Deliorman, who is active on the other side of his professional life as a festival program editor, voice actress and graphic designer, also prepares and presents the “World Jazz” program on Açık Radio every Tuesday evening. She supports new works of both domestic and foreign artists by taking them as guests to her program. She also writes reviews on jazzdergisi.com.
Baturay Yarkın - piano
Born in Istanbul in 1991, Baturay Yarkın became a part time student of Meral Yapalı at Istanbul University Piano Department. He won third place in 2004 Bitola "European Young Pianists Competition". Within the scope of “2013 Turkish-Chinese Year”, Yarkın accompanied the Turkish Rhythm Group and the Ministry of Culture Symphony Orchestra. When he went to Codarts with the Erasmus exchange program, he performed Argentinian tango in many concert halls of the Netherlands with OTRA Tango Orchestra which was founded by Leo Vervelde, and he performed on the New Year Concert entitled “From Louis Armstrong to Astor Piazzolla" held in CRR in 2016. In 2017, the “Tangueros de Estambul” album, which was recorded with the Tangesta group took its place on the shelves.
Yarkın, who studied with a scholarship at the Bahçeşehir University Jazz Certificate Department, was admitted to the Istanbul Jazz Festival in 2014 with his trio and received appreciation on the Young Jazz stage. He participated in the workshops including 2014 Puławy Jazz, 2015 New York Jazz and 2016 Eric Alexander, Greg Ozby and Barry Harris. He won a scholarship on the 3rd Global Musician Workshop (GMW) organized by Silk Road Ensemble founded by Yo-Yo Ma and worked with names such as Sandeep Das and Shane Shanahan in a workshop in Indianapolis. He gave concerts and worked as a trainer in the workshops that were repeated in the following years. The artist, currently a lecturer at the Istanbul University State Conservatory Jazz Department, has recorded four albums, namely Su, One, Blue Love and Colors of Anatolia. Within the Colors of Anatolia project he made concerts all over Turkey with his sister Nağme Yarkın who is a kemençe player.
Enver Muhamedi- double-bass
Enver Muhamedi was born in 1994 in Kosovo. At the age of 6, he began his music life in primary school in Mitrovica by playing classical guitar. He performed in classical music concerts in different cities and gave recitals. In high school, in addition to classical guitar he began playing doublebass and participated in classical music orchestras. He took part in jazz and rock projects with local groups in Kosovo and Albania. Later, he continued to his musical education at Mitrovica Rock School, Fontys Tilburg, and Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul.
Muhamedi, who took part in the album recordings of the artists such as Önder Focan, Ayşe Tütüncü, Baturay Yarkın Trio, Agron Peni Flamenco, Evrencan Gündüz, He also gave many concerts in cities such as Zurich, Friburg, Bern, Luzern, Basel, Tilburg, Breda, Lviv and Utrecht; He took part in Istanbul Jazz, Leopolis Jazz, Tirana Jazz, Pristina Jazz, Leskovac Film and Akbank Jazz Festivals.
Enver Muhamedi recorded his first album “Letter to K” on January 2020, which he dedicated to Kosovo.
