Trends and Evolution of The Art market and its Position in The World Today

This seminar offers a unique opportunity to grasp the complexities of the international art world and its markets and provides on overview of its actors and how they interact.
The goal of this seminar is to present the visual art system from an interdisciplinary perspective by analyzing the behavior of its main players, both on the demand (visitors, collectors, museums, corporate) and on the supply side (artists, art dealers, auction houses and fairs). Students will gain insight into the current state of both the primary and secondary markets while learning about the major players and how they interact, including museums, galleries, dealers, auction houses, private collectors, art advisors and curators.
Alessia Zorloni
Alessia Zorloni, PhD, is a lecturer, author, and art wealth advisor, specialized in contemporary art and collectible markets. She is Adjunct Professor of Art Market at IULM University, Milan, Italy. She also regularly holds lessons on the protection and valuation of family art collections at the Italian Family Officer Association (AIFO). Beside her academic work, Dr. Zorloni founded Art Wealth Advisory, an advisory practice based in Milan, that assists clients with an extensive range of services, such as art consulting, art market research, program development, and art related wealth & legacy planning. Dr. Zorloni has authored over 30 publications, including the books “Il Mercato dell’arte. Guida pratica per consulenti finanziari e private banker” (FrancoAngeli 2021), “Musei privati. La passione per l’arte contemporanea nelle collezioni di famiglia e d’impresa” (Egea 2019), “Art Wealth Management. Managing of Private Art Collections” (Springer 2016) and “The Economics of Contemporary Art. Markets, Strategies and Stardom” (Springer 2013), a best-selling book on the contemporary art market translated in Italian, Chinese and Persian. She is also a contributor writer for PRIVATE the magazine of Private Banking and Il Giornale dell’Arte, covering topics such as art investments and foundations established by private art collectors.
Dr. Zorloni has given keynote lectures and workshops at a variety of international cultural institutions including Estonian Academy of Arts (Tallinn), Bocconi University (Milan), University of Zurich (Zurich), ArtExperts+, (Dubai), Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf), Central Academy of Fine Art (Beijing) and Christie's (London). Alessia is a member of the Adviosry Board of ArtVerona.
