Born in 1961 in Istanbul, Serdar Ateşer was a founding/composer member, vocalist, bass and electric guitarist of Mozaik between 1982-1988. In 1986, he released his first solo album "Shipahoy!" in cassette format and by reproducing it at home. In 1998, he made his first soundtrack ("Selamsız Bandosu", Nesli Çölgeçen). Following his departure from the Mosaic group in 1988, he released his first solo album 'Mütareke Yılları' from Piccatura Records in 1989. He recorded the first album of Erkan Oğur and the 4th album of Bülent Ortaçgil in his studio. In 1998, his 2nd solo album 'Avdet Seyri' was released from Kalan Music as CD and LP. He made live performances and recordings with the band called "A Serdar Ateşer Orchestra", which he founded with the musicians included in the album. He settled in Ayvalık the same year. He continued to make album production, documentary and soundtracks. He worked as an album producer with Aynur Doğan, Mor ve Ötesi and many other soloists and bands and played with them together. He also worked with many artists in the field of contemporary art and started to operate in this field with his own works in recent years. In the summer of 2015, he founded a group called "Suzinin Turtası" and gave concerts with Cem Aksel and Akın Eldes. In 2017, formed a group called "Serdar Ateşer Big Band" with Mesut Uçar, Onur Duygulu and Gökhan Goralı. He gave concerts in the Aegean region and Istanbul.
In his 2018 album 'İş İşten Geçer Geçmez Ordayım’ released by Kalan Müzik, Serdar Ateşer sang the lyrics of Meltem Ahıska, Mehmet Budak, Murathan Mungan and Leyla Tuna alongside his own lyrics. The album also includes compositions by Ateşer for 3 poems by Edip Cansever.
