Takuya Kuroda
Born in Kobe, Japan, Takuya Kuroda is a forward-thinking musician that has developed a unique hybrid sound, blending soulful jazz, funk, post-bop, fusion and hip hop music. After completing his jazz education in New York, he crossed paths with vocalist and composer José James. Following the recordings they did together, Kuroda became one of the sought-after figures of the city's music scene. Since 2010, he has released seven albums on labels like Concord, Blue Note, P-Vine, First Word, and has been part of groups like DJ Premier's BADDER and Akoya Afrobeat. His latest, Midnight Crisp, consisting of six tracks, is yet another captivating record that showcases the diversity of his musical journey. Takuya Kuroda will perform at Babylon on October 10 as part of the 34th Akbank Jazz Festival and will be accompanied by his orchestra featuring Corey King, Lawrence Fields, Rashaan Carter, and Adam Jackson.
