Tatiana Eva-Marie
Nicknamed “the Gypsy-jazz warbler” by the New York Times and acclaimed as a “millennial shaking up the jazz scene” by magazine Vanity Fair, Tatiana Eva-Marie is inspired by music produced in different geographies at different times of the 20th century. The Brooklyn-based musician combines nuances from her family’s heritage of French and Romani traditions, the art world of 1920s Paris, and American jazz standards in her compositions. Passing what she has learned from composers such as Django Reinhardt, Sidney Bechet and Cole Porter through her own kaleidoscope, Tatiana Eva-Marie is best known for the Avalon Jazz Band that she founded. She works as a singer and orchestra leader as well as an actress and writer. Following the release of her new album Djangology on GroundUp Music, Tatiana Eva-Marie will be at Ses Theatre on October 8.
