Akbank Sanat International Dance Films
Film Curation: Onur Topal Sumer
A dance film is an alternative artistic space that combines cinematography, dance, movement, and music arts by reimagining dance through the collaboration of choreographers and directors with the camera.
In collaboration with Akbank Sanat and Dance Camera Istanbul, the "International Dance Films" selection consists of many award-winning short dance films and long documentary dance films from various geographies and cultures around the world. This special selection has been curated from contemporary topics such as anti-racism, women's rights, the 'unrestrictedness' of physically disabled bodies, dance in different age groups, nostalgia, quarantine, technology, body, space, and the wholeness of nature. With various styles and aesthetic understandings from different dance and film techniques, examples from all corners of the world can be watched at Akbank Sanat cinema hall on April 27, 2024, during the sessions at 14:30-16:00, 17:00-18:30, and 19:30-21:00. You can discover different films in each session.
