“For me, the word 'jazz' means, 'I dare you'.”
Wayne Shorter was a musical genius who rose to fame when he joined Miles Davis’ iconic quintet in a music career that began in the mid-1950s. His groundbreaking work with the band Weather Report paved the way for an innovative style in the jazz scene. He received several prestigious prizes including 12 Grammy Awards, the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, and the NEA Jazz Masters Awards.
