On Writing - Gülse Birsel
Scriptwriter, writer and actress Gülse Birsel shares her experiences with the festival followers in conversation that will be held.
Gülse Birsel was born in Istanbul. After graduating from Beyoğlu Anatolian High School, she started studying Economics at Boğaziçi University. She entered Aktüel magazine as a reporter in her second year of university. In 1994 she graduated from Boğaziçi University and went to USA. She received her MA in Cinema from Columbia University in New York. Returning to Turkey in 1996, Gülse Birsel wrote the foreign news of the morning bulletin at ATV for three months. She later became the editor-in-chief of Esquire magazine. She was the editorial consultant of Harper's Bazaar, FHM, House Beautiful and Gezi magazines in 2001 and 2002. She made her name known to the masses as the writer and actress of the TV series Avrupa Yakası, which was broadcast on ATV. She was the copywriter and presenter of the TV show called "g.a.g". She acted in TV series and movies such Hırsız Var! (2004), 7 Kocalı Hürmüz (2009), Eyvah! Eski Kocam (2003), Avrupa Yakası (2004-2009), Yalan Dünya (2012-2014), Komedi Türkiye (2015). The first feature film that she wrote and acted in "Aile Arasta" was released in December 2017. She wrote the script for the Jet Sosyete series and starred in the lead role. She wrote the Yılbaşı Gecesi movie screened on the Disney+ platform in 2022, and she also acted in it.
