“Her sound is drenched with originality—a world-class artist, composer, and performer… Zoe shines as one of Britain’s most powerful compositional voices and important contemporary artists.” This is how the Ivors Academy, one of Europe’s most established songwriters’ associations, describes Zoe Rahman. Rahman blends jazz aesthetics, her classical music background, her family roots in Bangladesh, and her expansive music taste. So far, she has been recieved awards from several institutions, such as MOBO and Ivors Composers Awards. Her album Melting Pot was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2006. Every song on her latest album Colour of Sound, released by Manushi Records in July 2023, promises her audience different emotional experiences. Her collaboration as a trio with Alec Dankworth and Gene Calderazzo made this album, one of the most energetic projects in her discography, possible. In addition to her own work, she has accompanied several musicians like Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Courtney Pine, George Mraz, Yoko Ono, and Reem Kelani on their various recordings. As part of the tour alongside the release of her new album Colour of Sound, Rahman will be performing at Akbank Sanat on October 4th.
