Curator: Hasan Bülent Kahraman
Artist: Canan Dağdelen
In her work, Canan Dağdelen questions such contemporary concepts as “established order”, “modern nomadism”, and “motility in global life” but along an unaccustomed axis: the relationship between architecture and history. Her focal point is the architect and his relationship with people.
The sociological/archeological point of view in her work is emphasized through a poetic exposition. Her works are designed with an extremely reductionist and minimalist language tht concentrates on spatial relationships.
At her exhibition, which will be open at Akbank Sanat until 21 April 2007, viewers will have a chance to see and sense Dağdelen’s works which, to a surprising degree, strain our past and present common wisdom concerning writing, language and photography – three elements that have been the area of interest of her work to date.
