The "wonder boy" of Italian jazz Claudio Flippini, following his classical music training decided to professionalize in jazz. The young artist won the first prize at the European Competition for Piano Solo that was organized by the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe in 2002, and the Massimo Urbani Award in 2003. Famous Italian jazz pianist Enrico Pieranunzi commented in his notes on his debut album: “Musical stories full of imagination and depth; Claudio’s improvisations reveal to us a language of beauty, generating music of such density and intensity.” The same year, he recorded a tribute CD called “Enchantment” with the London Symphony Orchestra for Nino Rota who has composed soundtracks for many films of famous Italian director Fellini. The musician has released ten albums, and shared the stage with many jazz legends throughout his career, such as Wynton Marsalis, Tony Scott, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Mike Stern.
