Seminar: Participative Cultural Planning in Cities

About the Seminar: Culture-Art should be supported by policies that are liberating more than protective, integrated, equally distant to all fields and encouraging innovation, rather than being protective, in accordance with its constantly developing and enriching nature through interaction. By Providing a management model that encourages the participation of artists and cultural professionals in the decision-making process by designing cultural and art spaces and public spaces in accordance with the needs of cities is of great importance for this cause. In this seminar named “Participatory Cultural Planning in Cities”, how people-oriented, integrated and participatory strategies can contribute to the process of decentralization in cultural policies will be discussed.
About the Speaker: Özlem Ece is the Director of Cultural Policy Studies at Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) since the establishment of the department in 2010. Between the years of 2003 and 2008 she worked as a project coordinator and communications consultant for different institutions. Between 2008 and 2010, she has directed one of the most wide scale events of the foundation, ‘Cultural Season of Turkey in France’. Ece, who is a lecturer at Kültür University, is also a member of UNESCO Turkish National Commission’s Committee of Diversity of Cultural Expressions since 2018. Alumni of Marmara University, department of Public Administration, she received her master’s degree from Grenoble Institute of Political Studies.
