“Postgraduate Students Represent: Our Stage Music from the Tanzimat to the 1990s”

This year, as every year, I.U. Faculty of Letters, Department of Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy graduate and doctorate students will share with the audience the works they carried out throughout the year under the management of Prof. Dr. Kerem Karaboğa. In this session, Turkish theatre history will be examined in terms of musical plays, musicals, operettas and cabarets, and the musical structures of the staging, lyrics, stage performance and the relationship with the audience will be discussed. The results, obtained while tracing the transformation or continuity phenomenon detected in the mentioned areas will be opened to discussion.
Speakers Resumes: I.U. The Faculty of Letters, Department of Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy was established in 1992 as a graduate program to train theatre researchers, dramaturg and theatre critic in order to develop the art of theatre in intellectual, theoretical and literary fields. The department; as the name suggests, in addition to dramaturgy education, also involves theatre criticism, which is included in academic education for the first time in our country. In addition, in 2008, it enriched its program even more by adding the "Department of Theatre Criticism and Theory" and "Dramaturgy and Dramatic Writing Art".
Noyan Ayturan: After completing his undergraduate education in Physics, he received his master's degree from Istanbul University, Department of Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy. He studied acting and mime at Istanbul University State Conservatory Pantomime Major of Art, Theater de l'Ange Fou - London International School of Physical Mime and Studio Actors, and is pursuing his doctorate in dramaturgy. He gave lectures in the performing arts departments of Istanbul, Haliç, Yeditepe, Yeni Yüzyıl and Beykent Universities.
