Taiwan Shadow Theatre is a continuation of Chinese Shadow Theatre that appeared in South China. However, Taiwan Shadow Theatre with its sticks connected perpendicular to the shadow puppet makes a difference from the Chinese Shadow Theatre in the traditional form. This technique is interestingly alike Karagöz’s, with a similarity of playing at right angles. Established in 2002, multi--‐award--‐winning Kaohsiung Shadow Puppet Theatre is great at incorporating creative elements into traditional stories.Nazha,the main character of this play, is based on ancient Chinese mythology. The powerful teenaged deity is very naughty and causes trouble all the time.
