Speaker: Esra Dicle
Moderator: Noyan Ayturan
Nezihe Muhiddin, one of the most important names of the women's movement in Turkey, is also a playwright. Three of the games we have received; "Ana Aşkı”, “Vicdanların Emri” and “Talihin Bir Cilvesi" were published in 1929. Muhiddin focuses on gender in her texts and discusses the place of women in the family and public sphere. It is known that the author also wrote the plays "Zelzele”, “Bir Rüya” and “Kadınlar Kulübü", but only "Kadınlar Kulübü" was published (1936). And all three plays include important information and discussions regarding the public history of the women's movement in Turkey. Esra Dicle will examine and discuss how the women's policies of the single-party period were interpreted from Nezihe Muhiddin's point of view.
