Dance and Dancers in Art Institutions
Hour: 18.30 – 20:00
Moderator: Amira Akbıyıkoğlu
Speakers: İlyas Odman, Canan Yücel Pekiçten, Filiz Sızanlı
Art institutions have approaches that combine and intertwine different disciplines. Although institutions often center visual arts, strategies are gradually being developed that center body-oriented arts. At this stage, dance has the potential to have a place of its own beyond being a supporting discipline to the main event.
The second session of the “Dance Talks: Towards Better” talk series, “Dance and Dancers in Art Institutions”, focuses on dancers who have previously worked with institutions and how they perform their own practices under the roof of the institution. The conversation focuses on sharing experiences, positioning the artists' experiences as a basis for potential future strategies.
