Seminar Series on Philosophy - Crisis and Critique II
Moderator: Emre Şan
Guest: Ferda Keskin
“Historical Ontology as Critique”
Historical ontology aims to show that boundaries are historically established. Considering that they define limits to human action in terms of belonging conditions, the evaluation of identities within the framework of these modalities carries the discussion to an ethical and political dimension on the axis of freedom. Thus, it becomes not only a theoretical but also a practical question whether the historical and unenforceable limits need to be crossed and, if so, the forms in which they can be crossed. In this talk, we will discuss the above questions in the context of modern political philosophy and ethics.
