Pianist and composer Baki Duyarlar combines old Turkish forms and makams with modern jazz tones in his “JazzArk Project”, updating the music of old civilizations with today’s approaches. Consisting of acoustic piano, double bass and Turkish percussion instruments, this unusual trio aims at melting the ampleness of European music and the exuberance of Mediterranean warmth in the same pot. In JazzArk Project’s debut album, released in 2020, Baki Duyarlar was accompanied by Mehmet Akatay, Kristian Lind and Antonio Serrano, one of the most important harmonica players of our time, who played with Paco de Lucia for many years. Two special guests, Şennur Dinleyen and Tolga Karaslan will join JazzArk Project in their performance at the Akbank Jazz Festival.
