Documentary Cinema: Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun, Bulut Reyhanoğlu
Crossroads, Turkey's first contemporary art documentary, will be screened within the scope of the Documentary Cinema section this year. In the conversation to be held after the screening, successful director Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun, who made a name for himself with his feature films, and the producer of the film, Bulut Reyhanoğlu, will share experiences with the festival followers.
Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun began filmmaking with directing documentaries in 2000. He made his first fiction film “Wrong Rosary” in 2009 which he won several national and international awards including Rotterdam Film Festival’s Tiger Award. His second film “Yozgat Blues” was finished in 2013 and premiered at 61st San Sebastian Film Festival. His third feature film “The Announcement” premiered at 75th Venice Film Festival and won Special Jury Prize. His documentary “Crossroads” premiered in Istanbul Film Festival in 2022.
Bulut Reyhanoğlu was born in 1962 in Istanbul. In 2011, he provided production support for the movie Zenne, directed by Caner Alper and Mehmet Binay. He also worked as an executive producer and directed the festival process of the second film Çekmeceler, of the same directors. In 2018, he took part as an 'executive producer' in the movie "Announcement" directed by Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun. Most recently, he produced the documentary "Crossroads" directed by Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun. He is the founder and owner of Shortbyshort site, an online short film viewing platform.
