The guest of the documentary cinema section is Matjaž Ivanišin from Slovenia. The director will share his initial interest in documentary cinema and the working principles behind his successful films with the festival followers.
Matjaž Ivanišin (1981, Slovenia) was educated in film at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana. Since his graduation in 2007, he has worked as a freelance filmmaker. His student film Quick View (2005) won several awards. He received the France Brenk award for his debut feature-length documentary Karpotrotter (2013). Ivanišin’s second feature-length documentary Playing Men (2017) was selected for International Film Festival Entrevues Belfort, where it won the Cine + Distribution Support Award. The film also received the Vesna Award for Best Documentary and the Georges de Beauregard Award at the International Film Festival Marseille.
His latest film Oroslan was selected to the 72nd Locarno Film Festival in Filmmakers of the Present section, dedicated to emerging directors from all over the world.
