David Sanborn has been an influential saxophonist since the 1970’s, giving direction to contemporary music. With 24 album releases in total, he has achieved one gold and one platinum album and won the Grammy award six times. A leading musician to use saxophone in rock and pop music, Sanborn has participated in the recordings and concert projects of Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, and Paul Simon. Sanborn started his solo career in 1975 and won his first Grammy for his 1981 release. His “Backstreet” album, which became a huge success in 1983, included famous musicians such as Jack DeJohnette, Bill Frisell, Charlie Haden, Kenny Barron, Christian McBride, and Eric Clapton. Reaching out to jazz fans also with his TV and radio programs, Sanborn is a master trying to exceed the limits of his creativity with each of his projects. With his latest group “David Sanborn Electric Band”, he has given very impressive concerts at festivals worldwide.
