Quartera, founded by the pianist and composer Emir Ersoy, thanks to the incentive of Grammy-awarded drummer Robby Ameen’s support, is a group that dances the unique tunes of Anatolia, Turkish oud and cümbüş (a special type of mandolin) with the hot Latino/Cuban rhythms, in harmony. With the bass guitarist Alain Pérez in its personnel, next to Ameen, the group, this year, recorded their East-West synthesis music project “Anatolian Side Of Cuba”, with Sony Music label in Ömür Göksel Studios. Quertara now invited by Akbank Jazz Festival, will present 8 instrumental pieces by Emir Ersoy with an all-star team. In the concert, Emir Ersoy will be accompanied by William Richard Cardoso on drums, as usual, Eylem Pelit, –a Turkish musician who has been a sideman to names like Dizzie Gillespie, John Scofield, Dianne Reeves and Paul Simon– on bass guitar and by Altuğ Öncü, one of the group’s founding members, on oud and cümbüş. Don’t miss this vivacious and soulful concert which will feature Türkü Turan, one of the young talents of Turkish cinema who was appreciated for her role of a jazz singer at a TV series.
