The British soul team Ephemerals was founded by the guitarist Hillman Mondegreen about 3 years ago, in London. Today featuring stars from groups like Keke Mokoro, Gene Dudley Group, Dakhla, Kalakuta Millionaires and Marvelous & Bombs, the team’s first member and its source of inspiration was the singer Wolfgang Valbrun, whom Mondegreen met during a tour in France. Their debut album Nothin Is Easy was also the motivation behind the band’s foundation. This hit album was followed by Chasin Ghosts and Egg Tooth. Boasting the support of BBC Radio 2 and 4, and of names like Gilles Peterson and Craig Charles, Ephemerals has given shows at Glastonbury, Bestival and Mostly Jazz Festivals. Now they come to Akbank Jazz Festival to perform live their bold pieces about reincarnation, love, world politics and philosophy. Be ready for a concert of retro soul, rough sounds, horns, jazz, Afrobeat, rock, hip hop, psychedelic elements, inked by Wolfgang’s vocal full of passion, pain and desperation.
