Seminar: Relational Aesthetics and Its Critic

About the Seminar: In this seminar, evaluation of Nicolas Bourriaud's Relational Aesthetics and the Radicant concepts will be practiced along with visuals from some of the artists that produces concordant works. According to Bourriaud, art today is after creating "an encountering place". The pros and cons of this approach which pushes the sensory experience in the background, will be discussed with a critical point of view.
About the Speaker: He was born in 1977, in Ispir (Erzurum). He completed his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctor’s degree at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Sociology Department. While he was working on his doctora thesis, he has been in Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne Üniversitesi Philosophy Department during 2017-2018 academic year with an one-year scholarship. 2009 yılında he completed his thesis named "Good Life and Democracy in Ancient and Modern Thinking". He has undertook the editorship of art magazines as Gençsanat, Plato and Artist. H gave classes on philosophy, sociology, and art in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Plato Vocational School, Yaşar University, Yeditepe University and Bilgi University. He conducts cultural history seminars at Istanbul Modern Art Museum and Atölye Maçka. He is a faculty member at Okan University at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture.
