Neyzen Kudsi Erguner introduced reed flute, the main instrument of Sufi music, as a jazz instrument, and this time he is performing with German jazz pianist Michael Wollny and percussion master Hamdi Akatay. Erguner gained an international reputation for his Ottoman and Sufi music concerts and albums. Erguner has worked and produced albums with many well-known musicians from different genres, from pop music to classical music, from jazz to contemporary music, including Peter Gabriel, Fazıl Say, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Nusret Fateh Ali Khan, and Anouar Brahem. As a leading figure of the “World Music” genre, Erguner conducted research on traditional music not only in Turkey but also in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Japan and in the countries of North Africa. Erguner frequently participates in prestigious jazz festivals, including Montreux and Rocella, Molde International. Within the scope of Akbank Jazz Festival, Ergüner will take the stage together with pianist Michael Wollny, who is known as the “comet of the German jazz scene.”
