Jazz-rock guitarist Onur Ataman was accepted as the 'first Turkish musician' in the jazz (guitar section) of the Dutch Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 2001 after the Istanbul University State Conservatory. After graduation from the school with honor, he continued his postgraduate studies at the Leiden University in Netherlands and the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Belgium for two years.
During his jazz career he gave concerts in Europe and Turkey and recorded CDs under the title of 'Onur Ataman Ensemble', which he founded with his own name with many jazz musicians. The North Sea Jazz Festival, the Istanbul Jazz Festival, the Delft Jazz Festival and Turkey Now Festival Amsterdam are some of the festivals they took stage.
