Onur Çalışkan began playing clarinet at a very early age. In 2013, he won first place in a competition organized by the Istanbul Clarinet Festival and received his award from the world-famous clarinetist Mustafa Kandıralı. He plays concerts with many artists both locally and abroad. He released his debut album Esrik in 2020. This album was inspired by moments where the responsibilities created by consciousness are suspended. He collaborated on this album with versatile Grammy-winning musician Michael League and several musicians from the Turkish jazz scene like Ediz Hafızoğlu, Cenk Erdoğan, Efe Demiral, Tamer Temel, and Çağrı Sertel. He blends traditional tones with a modern approach to jazz aesthetics. Onur Çalışkan will be performing at CoBAC Work Space on October 4 as part of the 33rd Akbank Jazz Festival.
