One of the guests from London to play at the festival, Poppy Ackroyd puts on memorable performances at her solo concerts. Having learned to play the piano and violin at an early age, the musician developed her composition skills at the University of Edinburgh. She gained a unique audience with her band “Hidden Orchestra”. Her first solo album, where she used only the piano and the violin, is a summary of the musician’s delicate and complicated soul. In her second album “Feathers”, released in 2014, she used early keyboard instruments, such as a clavichord, harpsichord, and spinet. Though she mainly plays the piano and violin on her albums and at her concerts, what makes Poppy Ackroyd different than all the others is the inspiration she gets from all the voices surrounding her. Any kind of noise from traffic sounds to opening and closing sounds of instrument lids can be an inspiration for her. This concert where you will have the chance to listen to the stories of love, loss, hope and migration will be engraved in the audience’s mind.
