Sissoko Segal Parisien Peirani is an exciting quartet bringing together two virtuoso duos. Their journey started with a performance to celebrate the 15th birthday of the record label Nø Førmat! one night in Lyon during the summer of 2019. This new quartet, featuring kora, cello, accordion, and saxophone, magically proves that 2+2 no longer makes 4, it makes 1. They describe their 10-song album Les Égarés, the first output of this collaboration, as a “playground” rather than an album. There is no percussion in this album’s sound palette, but it still is a body of dialogues whose rhythmic structure profoundly influences the audience. Vincent Peirani explains their understanding of dialogues as follows: “None of us were ‘performing’, so much so that the music communicates a lot without ever having to ‘tell’ it. None of us had the truth in advance, what we did was to find it together.” Paris-based Sissoko Segal Parisien Peirani will be performing at Cemal Reşit Rey on October 3rd.
