Sub-Rehavi, made up of Serhan Adem on piano and Gökçe Gürçay on drums, create their compositions by taking traditional Middle Eastern rhythms and modes (makam) as their foundation. In their own terms, they create “jazz with 500-year-old methods.” Wandering between variations in rhythm and the wide range of modes, they create something new and invigorating. In 2022, Sub-Rehavi simultaneously released three thematic albums with the French company Tchai Records. VELVELE is made up of original compositions, LIVE at SOUNDIDEA brings together live sessions, and Mİ SA FİR showcases songs recorded with well-known musicians like Cenk Erdoğan, Serkan Emre Çiftçi, and Bilal Karaman. Before they head on their upcoming US tour, Sub-Rehvai will join the 33. Akbank Jazz Festival on 26 September.
