Production Design Workshop - Aslı Dadak, Barış Yıkılmaz
Aslı Dadak and Barış Yıkılmaz, who took part in the art department of many national and international films throughout their careers, share their experiences and knowledge about production design in the sector with the festival participants.
After graduating from Istanbul Bilgi University Stage and Performing Arts Management Department, Aslı Dadak worked with the painter Mehmet Güleryüz and later, she switched to the cinema sector and started to work as an art director. She took part in many award-winning films such as Mavi Dalga, Karnaval, Toz Bezi as well as international cinema projects such as Skyfall: James Bond and Taken 2. She continues to work on production design and prop production in motion pictures and digital platform productions at Bas Design Studio, which she founded together with Barış Yıkılmaz in 2012. The duo jointly undertook the production design of Bir Başkadır, Cici, Aşk 101, Ben Gri and 7Yüz, which have been broadcast on digital platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and BluTV in recent years.
Barış Yıkılmaz, born in 1978, is a graduate of Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Architecture. Yıkılmaz has worked as a production designer in the film industry for a long time, in many feature films, digital platform productions and commercials, as well as international productions such as Taken 2, Skyfall: James Bond. Many of the movies he worked on were screened at national and international festivals and received awards. Yıkılmaz, who also designs decor, accessories and interiors, continues to work on production design and prop production in motion pictures and digital platform productions at Bas Design Studio, which he founded with Aslı Dadak in 2012. * All workshops and talks organized as part of the 19th Akbank Short Film Festival are free of charge. Participation is limited to side events of the festival. There is a quota of 40 people for this workshop.
