Akbank Short Film Festival, having launched an active platform in the field of short films in Turkey, is marking its 9th year. Aiming to support new ideas and contribute to the short film culture, the Festival is slated to take place on 18-28 March 2013.
Akbank 9th Short Film Festival offers a program under the sections of "Short Film of the Festival", "International", "From Short to Feature", "Documentary Cinema", "Short Animations", "Special Screenings" and "Experience", as well as "Workshop" and "Dialogue & Talks".
Applications for the short movie competition, which is set to run under the Festival, have been completed. Selection of movies under "Fiction" and "Documentary" sections, as well as of the "Animation" section, which is unrolled for the first time this year, will be shown throughout the "Short Films of the Festival" section. The filmmakers of the "Best Films" in the festival will be determined under three categories by three jury groups. And Akbank Art will award the first-rankers with 8.000 TL.
The pre-selection jury of the competition consists of actress and acting coach Bahar Kerimoğlu, Maltepe University academic Serkan Öztürk, and director Selim Evci.
The jury of the "Fiction" category consists of actress Demet Evgar, director Emin Alper, cinematographer Gökhan Tiryaki, director Cemil Ağacıkoğlu and Akbank Art Director Derya Bigalı.
The jury of the "Documentary" category consists of director Aslı Özge, writer and director Derviş Zaim, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Yıldız, the Dean of the Communication Faculty of Maltepe University, director Rüya Arzu Köksal and Akbank Sanat Director Derya Bigalı.
Films to contest under the "Animation" category of Akbank 9th Short Film Festival will be evaluated by a jury group that consists of painter Cemal Erez, Galip Tekin, cartoonist for the Uykusuz Magazine, Berat İlk, President of the Animators Association and Asifa Turkey, Ass. Prof. Dr. Fethi Kaba, the head of the Animation Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Anadolu University, and Akbank Art Manager Derya Bigalı.
Awarded movies will be screened in 40 universities after the Festival.
