Diary of Immigration to Germany
Turkey / Documentary / 60' / HD / Color / 2017
Everything started towards the end of 1961 ... People who wanted to go to Germany as per "Labor agreement" between Turkey and Germany queued in front of the employment office in Tophane, Istanbul. They were going to save enough money to start their own businesses or to buy a house or a tractor, and then return back to Turkey but the "the visit" never ended. They stayed. The Germans were recorded saying ... "We were expecting manpower, people came instead!" The documentary, which took more than 1,5 years to prepare, has remarkable stories both from the past and the current day.
