To receive coal subsidy from government, Nimet (32) and his son Erkan (9) reach the final stage, where poverty is measured through household investigation. They pass the stage too and get the subsidy. The coals arrive, however they have other plans: selling them. COAL describes Nimet’s struggle against poverty through the eyes of his nine-year-old son Erkan.

Having completed his doctorate at the Department of Cinema, University of York, Reşat Fuat Çam continues his academic studies on new media, cinema theory and aesthetic theory. His short films have been shown at various national and international festivals.
